Our optometrists have helped in the research of macular degeneration, lead precision-based eye care required for patients having laser eye surgery. 

They have developed a meticulous approach to their work drawing on decades of experience of medical eye conditions such as diabetic retinopathy, cataract treatment and glaucoma. They even provide hospital eye care level services in the community including advanced contact lens fitting, dry eye management as well and low vision assessments.

    Home optometry services are particularly beneficial for individuals with mobility and cognitive issues, seniors, or anyone who finds it challenging to visit a traditional eye care clinic.

  • What services are offered during a home optometry visit?

    Services may include comprehensive eye exams, vision testing, prescription updates, and fittings for glasses or contact lenses. Our practice also offers consultations for low vision aids, dry eye management, retinal photography and Glaucoma management.

  • How do I schedule a home optometry appointment?

    Scheduling is typically done through our website, phone, or mobile app. You can choose a convenient time, and the optometrist will visit your home.

  • Are the fees for home optometry services covered by insurance?

    Eligible patients can receive a NHS home visit if they cannot attend the practice by themselves without difficulty, and they are on benefits, or above 60 ears of age or have an eligible health condition. Many insurance plans cover home optometry services, but coverage can vary. It’s recommended to check with both our practice and your insurance company to understand the details of your coverage.

  • How long does a typical home optometry appointment take?

    The duration of an appointment varies based on the services needed, but it generally takes about 30 minutes to an hour for a comprehensive eye exam.

  • What safety measures are in place during home optometry visits, especially considering health concerns like COVID-19?

    We adhere to strict safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), sanitization of equipment, and following guidelines to minimize the risk of infection.

    We work in the West Midlands Areas. Please contact us to check if your location is covered since certain areas within the region may not be accessibly.

  • What should I prepare for a home optometry visit?

    Ensure a well-lit room that can be subsequently darkened and quiet space for the examination. Have your current eyewear, if any, available, and be ready to discuss any specific concerns or symptoms you may be experiencing.

  • Can I request specific optometrists for my home visit?

    Patients become registered with their Optometrist and will see the same person on subsequent appointments. This ensures better continuity of eyecare.

  • Is there an additional fee for weekend or evening appointments?

    We may charge extra for appointments outside regular business hours. It’s advisable to inquire about any additional fees when scheduling your appointment. However, the norm is that our service is a Monday to Friday service without supplement charges.

  • What happens if the optometrist identifies a potential eye health issue during the home visit?

    If a significant issue is detected, the optometrist will discuss the findings with you and may recommend further testing or referral to a specialist for appropriate care.

  • Can I get a new prescription for glasses or contact lenses through a home optometry service?

    Yes, the optometrist can provide updated prescriptions for glasses or contact lenses based on the examination results. A you can choose from a wide range of glasses that we bring out to you as part of the eye test.

  • What if I need urgent or emergency eye care?

    In case of urgent eye care needs, we will contact your local emergency services or help navigate you to visit the nearest emergency room. We are registered for the Community Urgently Eyecare Service. This means we can visit you to assess and triage the care you most appropriately need.
